Men from Nantucket are a supergroup that played in Starkville in 1998. They only lasted a year before the members went their separate ways with stints in Law of Nature, Poacher, the Persians, John Black Attack, and the Delicate Cycle. Now they’re coming back to do it again! See them at Dave’s Dark Horse Tavern on Friday December 17 or Saturday Dec. 18. There’ll be original songs and covers of bands like Pavement, Guided by Voices, the Pixies, and Dinosaur Jr.
PrettyFave the Delicate Cycle plays on Friday and the Jarheads on Saturday.

Folks, come BURY THE HATCHET (ouch) this Friday at Ole Tavern with HANK OVERKILL. There’s really nothing like them around—a group of indie rockers and metal cats coming together to play totally acoustic Hank Williams and old-time country covers, complete with fiddle and brushes on the drums and all that good stuff. “Kawliga” never sounded so good.
I did this bit of art for them on scratchboard, just like Sandusky Review III. I’m going to bamboozle them into putting this on a t-shirt at some point.

Holy bamboozles, tonight at 121 Millsaps we’re having a mind-blowing show. The Crystal Stilts will team up with the Women and Los Buddies. It’s going to make you think the Velvet Underground got in a Quaalude fistfight with Joy Division, and there’s plenty to go around. We’re calling it “JXSW” since these fine people are heading over to MIGHTY AUSTIN to hopefully become (even more) famous.
