A few weeks back everybody hopped on planes and gassed up Hondas and fortified livers for the [most recent] Law of Nature show over at Rick’s Cafe Americain. For the past few years these shows have acted not only as a bona fide majestyk rock summits, but also ad hoc reunions for those far-and-wide lovers of Starkville and friendship. It’s hard not to love seeing the people you care about play the songs you love, and hard not to love being in the place you heard them play fifteen years ago, surrounded by great friends.
You’d think it would be easier to take a good photograph of it, but there you are, glaring off Chapman’s guitar, or blurring Jennifer’s face, and you’re stuck drinking shots of Jager with Andy and Michael and happy that I even got some fans and amps. And: And: And: remember the good times, the bad times, and man oh man, being drunk underneath the rafters.

Aw, you’re being too hard on yourself—I really like these shots and the way they capture that blurry-dizzy-woozy late night rock show feeling.
I am still bummed that I couldn’t go with you for this one!!
