So the second issue of the Sandusky Review is sold out. For a while I was of the mind that once they were gone, they were gone.
But I really like this one, and I’m really proud of the story and the drawings. And I realized I could redo them endlessly until I liked the way they looked. Why create new work when you can endlessly navel gaze about your old?
In actuality, the old covers were full-color and thus terribly expensive, and I always felt there was a disconnect between them and the story inside (although they preceded portions of the story). They were also one-offs, with razors and sleeping pills scattered on Kinko’s copiers. To replicate them, I’d have to spend the same amount of money, coupled with the same amount of frustration, and still not like them.
So I redid them in black and white in a manner that has some connections to the story. I’ve already been told by four of my closest friends that these suck, which should probably be a deterrent, but what the heck. Also, these can be colored a bit (the blood on the razorblade, the pills on the other side), which will be fun.

(I wasn’t finished drawing in the lines on this one—but it’s finished, now).
I’m pretty excited about having some of these printed up this week, and also heading down to Spanish Town! Woo!
Have you been drinking? It feels like it. Although, I do like the unicorn.
These covers are HOTTTTT!!
I really thought you were bluffing about the unicorn. I’m glad to see you were not.
Metallica lettering and Unicorns = awesome.
Thanks so much for my issue! I really love it.
Wishing i was headed to Spanishtown!
I never said they sucked…I just thought they didnt connect with the theme of the stories, etc. Stand alone they are awesome! I tellin you Mixtapes and Makeouts would make a much better topic for these.
Um, you know how I feel about these. I concur with Pinky about the unicorn though.
SPANISH TOWN COUNTDOWN UPDATE:
