This is another shot with the P420 and expired 669 film. The abandoned high heels are my favorite part, but this test shot to see how it would frame up was only partially successful (there’s too much rails/siding vertical/horizontal fistfighting going on). I was wanting to see how well the print would absorb ink and it did pretty well. “All the Wine” is still one of my favorites from The National’s Alligator. At this point I have to say it: Boxer’s on the shelf and Alligator is back in the player.
In other news, gclark took some time out of his exhaustive L.A. Galaxy coverage to send me three packs of 779 film in the mail! That’s a particularly lavish payment for a single Sandusky Review, but more than welcome (I’ve been out of film for two months!). According to Polaroid, it’s a high-class version of their standard 600 film. I took some night shots last night and was really pleased with the results, which I’m sure will filter their way up on PrettyFakes at some point.
Of note are the wonderful resources available at Jim’s Polaroids. You can learn a ton about the different types of film, exposure times, and—my favorite part—scan the original instruction booklets. Well worth checking out.
I picked up Alligator a few weeks ago and dig it as well, though I still have to give the nod to Boxer. It sags in the middle a little, but then, so does Alligator.
