Light + Glass (Never Actually Went Out With Him; Okay, Maybe Once, But It Was More Like A Friend Thing, Why Does Everything Have To Be Such A Big Deal With You).

If you have been one of the legions speculating that Prettyfakes is involved in some sort of Light + Glass payola scandal, you’d be dead right. For every blurry Polaroid I get a mouthful of imported rum and a Tara burger at Fenian’s (the cheese is extra).

I’m not alone: even the normally staid Clarion-Ledger is running an article on the new studio, revealing truths and half-truths and things I’m pretty sure are outright lies. For instance, is it true that Jerri Sherer and Roy Adkins are actually married? I have no idea personally, but I suspect that Roy won some sort of a bet by saying that he makes photographs “created by overlayment of light.” I’d bet he’s never overlayed light a day in his whole life.

Perhaps I’m just envious because my overlayment of light skills are comparably overlooked, but let’s be honest, I’ve gotten so awexxome lately that basically “Do You Want To Touch Me (Oh Yeah)” by Joan Jett actually begins playing the moment I step out of my 1960 Corvette. You know that scene in Goodfellas, where Ray Liotta leads Lorraine Bracco through the back of the restaurant, and they’re all setting up the table for them special, because he’s the man? My life is basically like that, but with more, you know, teenage nudity. And also, Cristal.

This weekend is going to be a blast; hope to see you, but please recall that I no longer sign autographs, but an assistant will be on hand to sign one for you (it will be a different name, but I suspect the process is transgressive or, I don’t know, transliteral, and thus valuable in some fashion). As an aside, special thanks to TLG, who palmed me some cash last night to reserve his copy of the Sandusky Review. Have you reserved YR copy, &tc.

Thanks to everybody who came out to my dj set at Don’s last night. Looks like we’re going to make it a permanent gig on Wednesdays, sort of a complement to Boomboxxx. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go throw up and cry now. Just like every Friday morning!

A Gorjus DJ set might be worth a 9 hour-ish drive from Lexington!

How about a play list as a blog entry?

  5. TLG says:

Thank you, Gorjus! I know I’ll enjoy.

The past couple weeks have been fairly hectic for me. I’ve been in Hattiesburg more often than not watching my mother’s shop while she was out of town.
