I was browsing through Carnet de Voyage (by the extraordinary Craig Thompson) for the eight millionth time a couple nights ago and it always makes me want to go sketch out intricate street scenes. The problem being, you have to stay in one area for a half hour or so and that is very nearly impossible for one such as I to do.
This drawing is right next to the (very nearly opened!! And pretty much finished!) Light + Glass Studio on Commerce, right down from the PARTY QUAD,* the fun-times locales Hal & Mal’s (plus Red Room), Martin’s, W.C. Don’s, and the Fire/Cadillac’s complex. You need to call up those kids and come by and check out the new studio. It’s awesome.
*I just made that up.
I’m surprised you don’t spell it cadillaxx, as is your wont with some spellings…
just saying.
nice wattage meters!
Best pix ever. I would like to buy one of these in poster form. Please, please develop distribution channel!
I dig the bottle.
This makes ME want to draw, which equals good!
I’ve been looking at this for two days now, and it’s just great. The coloring and shading is kind of perfect.
oh, how I was soooooo hoping this would be a cartoon about a certain incident that took place at a certain Commerce St. locale between a certain individual and gorjus…...I guess that’d be up on NORTH commerce street, tho.

Evrywhere I hear the sound of marching, charging feet, boy
cause summers here and the time is right for fighting in the street, boy
But what can a poor boy do
Except to sing for a rock n roll band
cause in sleepy london town
Theres just no place for a street fighting man
No
