Last night I tricked Mix into coming over so I could take her pitcture and I almost got her to sit still so I could! I still wish I could have caught the Delicate Cycle show Saturday night, but I was driving back from Birmingham after catching the Mississippi State v. Alabama game (wherein Coach Croom may have kept his position, and wherein Coach Shula may have lost his).* I was so completely sick + sunburned that I barely have any memory of the show at all, although I do remember Los Buddies sounding better than evers. I barely even remember XYZ gifting me his “Toxic” iPod costume!!
Gene Taylor handles this so much better than lil’ Chip—although when Jaxxie told the table at Don’s about it last night there was much clinking of beers to the incredible legacy of Mississippi. I literally can’t drive down the street without passing a place critically important to the music, civil rights, and literature of our country.
*My new favorite story of all time: my dad and I are getting some food before the game, just walking around on campus with everybody else (there was a pole-vault exhibition!) (and signed photos of George Teague’s “The Strip” for $40!!) and he’s walking alongside an older couple who have their totally adorable grandson, who’s no more than three—wearing an awesome little Alabama toboggan.
“Who lives in there?” said the toddler, pointing to Denny Chimes.
“Nobody, honey,” was the reply, to which the kid narrowed his eyes and said, “unh-unh. I think that’s where Bear Bryant lives.”
At which point my dad cheers and says “you’re exactly right!”
MIX!!
This is a great photo—Mix’s hot leg, the phone, the beer, her cool shoe, etc.
Hooray for the DC, whose myspace tunes soundtrack many a morning here in my wee office!
I feel qualified to say that that is, in fact, a hot leg.
Not qualified re: the shoe.
Pretty damn hot phone, too…
Sweet.
Gorjus, I believe you failed to mention my incredible flashlight holding skills.
I’d say more, but I just got home and the cat is freaking out and trying to eat my computer. Thank you for catching my leg and shoe in their best light!
I know it’s from a few years ago, but I just have to say I am OBSESSED with your “ask Leonard Cohen” cartoon. I don’t know how I found it but it’s pure genius; I put it right on the top of my blog http://annecc.blogspot.com/ so more people can see it. and also so it’s conveniently located for me to look at it, which I do about twelve times a day.
