“She Gives Me Her Cheek When I Want Her Lips,” sunfaded Polaroid of a locked and chained door in a lost side of town in a dark apartment; holes cut into the photograph, then sewn back up via needle and thread, but only as much as you can; photograph literally coated opaque with black ink, then washed and scrubbed with soap in a cold shower, stained and rumpled a bit in the process.

Lyrics by Dave Alvin and X, from the song “4th of July,” on X’s See How We Are.

July-October, 2006.

“. . . Anybody can do that, anywhere in the world, any time.”

Update: Wah did some enlargments at Vindauga.

I remember listeing to this song on a mixtape you sent me when I lived in Atlanta…while I was buying PBR at the grocery store on my little sad walkman on July 4th…going to drink it all myself, as I had not made any friends in my new town yet.

  4. [Trackback] five o’seven to five thirty-four…

. . . How big should a polaroid be? The detail shot resolution would result in a 13 inch high polaroid. The original artwork is by Gorjus. Make sure and look at the full size versions, the automatic thumbnails gallery2 creates look a little soft. . . .
