Delta Mart (“The Permanence of Things Lost”).

This is a postcard sent to a friend in NYC today; the haiku is the completion of a thought on written on the back—what I’m going to send him in response to a great no-reason present.

This Delta Mart Polaroid was taken on a trip to Yazoo City a few weeks back; there are B-Sides to most of the photos on PrettyFakes, and as always, feel free to drop me a line if you’d like something sent to you.

If you didn’t catch the update, Wah borrowed “She Gives Me Her Cheek When I Want Her Lips” and did some amazing enlargements of it. The title of his post refers to a conversation where he asked me when I’d be home—”5:07,” I responded, to which he replied he’d see me at 5:34.

In the detail of the “X,” you can see that I had originally used ink to flesh out the body of the letter beyond what the actual stamped marking. After coating the whole thing (accidentally) in black ink—which I scrubbed off in a cold shower—the red ink comprising the left “leg” of the X really stands out. My favorite thing in a long while, excepting the terrible lettering at the bottom, which I was delighted to see greatly distressed by the shower.

It’s worth underscoring that these enlargements aren’t from a simple scan of the object—they’re from a photograph Wah took of the actual Polaroid.

i always thought it was neat/weird/appropriate(?) that the Delta Mart Shopping center is NOT in the delta. it IS, however, on the road to the delta.

all of its stores could be from the delta too.
