Help! My haus is overrun by Polaroids!! You can help. I’m thumbtacking these to the telephone pole at the corner of Saint Mary and Belmont at midnight tonite. If you don’t know where that is . . . well, you can’t have one. But, if you really want one of these, and don’t feel like the hassle of driving to Jaxxon, send me a note at prettyfakes@gmail.com. I’ll slap a stamp on the foto and send it: they make great lil’ postcards. Or leave a comment, or something.

Remember! These are worth at least $1.35 American! I mean—I’m practically giving away money, here! And some are of your third or fourth favorite Jackson landmarks! Because, really: do you know how hard it is to get a Polaroid of the King Edward? Pretty damn hard.

And look! I’m in one of them! That’s probably the one “worth” the most, right?? Sure! I’ve got a bunch more of these that I’ll likely post later. Or, you’ll see them pinned to telephone poles. Whatever works for you.

Also: The new Project Runway starts tonite!! Yee!

How does one decide which to request? It’s like saying, which Picasso would you like to have!

  2. Hey, where’s that Perlinksy tile in Canton? It looks familiar. V. cool shot of the old greyhound station—what are they doing with it now that they’ve built the shiny new station over in the Farish area?

I’d like to request a Welty-riffic shot of the Standard Life building. I mean, for the site, not for me. But for me, too, would be OK.

  3. gorjus says:

The tiled floor is on the square up in Canton; it used to be a jewelry store but is now empty. The Greyhound station is now an architect’s office.

  4. bulb says:

Love the contrast of the two types of tile or maybe tile versus brick in the Perlinsky photo!

i’ll be lurking in the shadows around 11:58 or so…

I’ve got dibs on the Grayhound Station, Bitches!

  7. pinky says:

so, did any of you go out hunting? I wish I lived in Jackson :(

  8. neola says:

we have that very same shot of perlinsky’s in our museum collection. well, it’s not a polaroid, but you get what i mean. (i like yours much more)

Just scored Lott Furniture on a not unpleasant after dinner stroll. Thanks.

  10. gorjus says:

There may be one or two left! I know Mix and Alec Eiffel got the Hudson’s, because they brought it to lunch at Basil’s yesterday.

I have a bunch of these things, and plan on “posting” them, literally and figuratively, ‘till I’m pared down a bit.

What fun when I was driving by last night and saw the lightpole with some missing! I had a big wave of community love. That, and community thievery.

Did the historic preservation committee approve this installation?

Sir, I think you are in violation of the Historic Ordinances of the city of jaxxon. You will be fined, escorted to the edge of the neighborhood, fitted with an ankle bracelet, and will not be allowed within 2 miles of the “protected historic district.” If you violate this perimeter, a mild electric current will be applied through the anklet. Sorry, these are the rules.

Oh, I did just read in the ordinances that they now have a “stylish” toe ring, if you don’t like the anklet, so all is not totally lost.

  13. Roland says:

I’m canvassing the neighborhood, expecting more treasures on telephone poles. So put up!

  14. beth says:

I’d like one, please. Sally has my address.

  15. Gramps says:

Seeing your title, I was hoping for a scoop on the Germs/Darby Crash movie:

  16. gorjus says:

This post was actually going to have some information about that, Gramps—because in the lastest issue of the Big Takeover they’re reviewing the reformed Germs shows! Apparently the guy playing Darby in the movie did some dates with them: reviews ranged from uncanny to annoying, but I’m still impressed.

The Jitney and the Columns arrived yesterday! Thanks so much.
