I’ll promise that I’ll follow-up with the end of Booze Week ‘06, and also some Polaroids taken at various Northern Mississippi locations this past Friday nite (“OMG OMG LAW OF NATURE AT RICK’S TONITE1!”).

That blue fire hydrant picture is so bright and lovely. If I didn’t know better I’d think you’d monkeyed with it! Also, the Eudora Welty picture cracks me up.

But May is the fifth month, not the sixth.

  2. Go vine go! Go vine go!

Rusting stuff + things growing on it = awesome.

what i like about mississippi is that the old girl always seems overgrown.

  4. Polly says:

why does our neighborhood constantly have a rotating ration of pouring fire hydrants?

Polly – I’ll tell you, having once or twice caused them hydrants to be popped open. So begineth the story:

The Curse of the Belhaven Brownwater

Old rusty pipes underneath old rustic neighborhoods lead to an excess of unsightly brown and green water running from out homeowners’ faucets. After a storm this mundane inconvenience is especially bad. So – this happens to you. You call the fine people at the waterworks. They send a man to flush some pipes in your neighborhood to hopefully remove the unsightly water from the system.

Thing is, it doesn’t work too well, because so many pipes are so old. I was cursed with unsightly water for months before Katrina. And Katrina made the waterworkers do something that worked. I have had no unsightly water since the deluge.

In repsonse to the “Quietly Rusting out on Hwy 80, What happened, Ross Neely?” Not sure what happened but I do appreciate the free advertisment. We are still here. Breathe Freely.
