It’s the alternative to the regular plastic CD jewel case—when you get a CD in little booklet-type thing instead of a jewel case, that’s a digipak.
I hope they’re, like, better for the environment and stuff. I dunno, though.
i like SOME digipaks, or other alternative packaging for cd’s, but many of them, for different reasons, irk the mess out of me…
arcade fire? had to personally make a TEAR in merge’s (admittedly pretty) paper packaging to get the disc to quit sliding between the pockets and come out so i could LISTEN to it…
the second beulah album (when your heartstrings break) – the cd jumps ship anytime the case is non-horizontal… and one of my thuggish-ruggish roommates back in 1998 set a 24oz southpaw on it one pot-filled afternoon and it Left A Ring! joy!
but anyway. nice haikus, and great pic… i figured ‘em all out but 5th from the top and the one on the bottom. hints?
Yeah—I hated that Arcade Fire packaging, too. I generally like best the ones that still have a traditional spoke-thingy that sticks through the hole in the CD. But I kind of like the idea of having that Beulah CD indelibly stamped—no one else’s looks like that, and it’s got a whole personal history thing going now. History just slides right off those plastic cases. Then again, I might not be saying that if he’d put a southpaw on my cd digipak.
