in the spirit of togetherness and love.

I have snuck inside Wah & Jah’s house to type this little entry.

On the front porch drinking juleps & booze are Sally, La Federala, the Doc & NAH, Larry Ferrari and Gene Clark. Out back Bamf is spinning the Yeah Yeah Yeahs while Wah & Jah & Hud play bocce ball, and jp! just called to say he’s on his way back after his spin through the Delta.

Vendela & Herman Rarebell are set to head over tonight after they pick up Rose from Alec Eiffel, Herman being a good sport and babysitting me thru the Flinghammer show last night.

On this day we celebrate our beliefs. One of mine is this: your real family might also include people that you didn’t grow up with. The people I am with are no less my brothers and sisters because they don’t have the same blood type.

And we must never, ever forget, now more than ever, that we held some truths to be so self-evident that we started a new country. We believed these things: that all people were created equal and endowed with certain Rights that can never be altered or damaged. Chief among those Rights are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

To secure these rights, we started a country by the consent of the people, because when any Form of Government becomes destructive of those holy rights it should be destroyed. This is our mandate.

Happy two hundred and twenty-eighth.

I spent a lovely evening with Rose this weekend. She was charmed by the likes of one woodroe (whom she referred to as “the funny man in the white shirt).

She had a delightful bag o’ magic tricks (one that involved making the funny man say “carrot” repeatedly…) She spoke of monkey shirts, Hee Haw, and manners class – and even sang a few rounds of the Beverly Hillbillies.

Most importantly though, she spun a tale of her father’s friend Sanchez – whom she could imitate with the greatest of ease.

Vendela, she is one amazing young lady!
