Jaxxon-area hotts don’t forget the Collective hinjinx tomorrow night at the newly-reopened (and Shininglike) W.C. Don’s. Flier by Gorjus-original image from the first Lone Justice album + font Century Gothic + design roughly pirated from a Liberace album that Herman Rarebell found in Hattiesburg but wouldn’t let me have so I have greedily used it before he could!! Bwah-ha-ha! Oh yeah, and the bottom is cut off.

Also for you Jaxxonites, pick up this week’s Jackson Free Press for an awexxome Gorjus cartoon review of the new Marah album. My best work, ever.

Is there anyway we can see the cartoon online?

  2. Sally says:

He’ll probably post it when next week’s issue comes out, like he did last time with the Jubilee Jam one.

that liberace record not only boasts one of the all time awesomest cover designs ever, i actually enjoy listening to it. i told rose it was a ballet record and she pirouettes around the den whenever i play it.

the sleeve looks like gorjus’s flier, except instead of that hott lone justice singer, it features some rather seductive 60’s bombshell in silver mascara. simple type near her lips asks “what now, my love?”. then you flip it over to see a frilly photo of liberace. mind blowing.

a close runner up for most awesomest album cover of all time was also purchased that day – dick curless “hard travelin’ man”. the cover photo peers down the side of a big rig, into the lonesome highway ahead. but if you look closely in the mirror, you see the countenance of dick curless – WEARING AN EYE PATCH! presumably, the eye was lost during his hitch in korea. dick’s done some hard travelin’ indeed, and the liner notes let you know it. as an added bonus, the record is actually pretty good. sounds a lot like buck owens.

Yeah, I’m interested to hear what you think of the new Marah, which I haven’t picked up yet. I loved Kids in Philly all to pieces, and then Float Away… Well, about three days out of the year I’m concinved that Float Away is one of the great pop albums of all time and should be the soundtrack to every high school homecoming dance and cheesy liberal-arts college orientation shindig. The other 362.25 I think the only thing that keeps me from trading it in is my Springsteen mania. (Speaking of, I think I still owe Gorjus a Springsteen boot…)

& I owe you a Steve Rude Mister Miracle, which I’ve got set aside for just that! Yaw, I’ll post the cartoon next Wednesday—look for it!

why can’t you just go ahead and post the cartoon now? afraid it’ll cut into JFP sales? oh wait, it’s free.

i think the collective should be renamed “hugs n’ coffee”.
