a friend of mine wrote me an e-mail today, and seemed mildy excited about a new job she was getting—that would double her salary. um. if my salary was doubling, i think i’d be TYPING IN ALL CAPS FOR THE REST OF THE MONTH OR MAYBE EVEN THE YEAR!!

i read the first volume of alan moore and kevin o’neill’s the league of extraordinary gentlemen yesterday. i don’t think i’ve ever read a comic that had me scrambling for the internet, to figure out what the hell they were referencing. a true joy for nerds and researchers alike!

also had at least two or three “gasp!” moments, which rarely come for me in any media. the first involved the ol’ “my greatest enemy is my secret ally!” type of shock, which went all the way back to my sherlock holmes readin’ adolescence, in content and scope.

the other was just kevin o’neill’s amazing, sketchy art. i don’t even think i can explain how great it was to see “chinamen” riding dragon kites attacking a victorian airship. all while listening to the postal service album!! ah, nerdery. thy name is gorjus.

so we’re up to 105 dead, 30 dead british, and literally thousands of dead iraqis—civilian and otherwise. as this article details, we now face—or have failed to face—(more…)
